The Database Guard protects the Logical Standby Database from any unwanted Changes and Modifications apart from the Logical Apply and the User SYS. If you try to make any Changes while the Database Guard is enabled, you will receive

ORA-16224: Database Guard is enabled

Sometimes it is necessary to disable the Database Guard on the Logical Standby Database for various Reasons (eg. Reinstantiate a Table or add Tables/Indexes).
