ORA-942 When Granting Access to Directory (Doc ID 831105.1)

-- Problem Statement:
Created new directory but getting error when trying to grant access to it.

SQL> create or replace directory ORAEXP_DIR as '/oraexp/';

Directory created.

SQL> grant read , write on oraexp_dir to scott;
grant read , write on oraexp_dir to scott
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
