Purpose

This NOTE documents the correct parameter syntax for the ulimit command to set the “maximum number of processes available to a single user” in the following Linux Operating Systems (OSs):

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL)
SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES)

Scope

This NOTE is meant for those planning/trying to install Oracle Software products onto supported Linux OSs.  It is applicable to both 32-bit and 64-bit Linux.
