Purpose

To help customers in identifying if the Oracle Server software they are attempting to install is certified on their Windows Operating System platform and to locate relevant installation source and Guide from OTN.

Scope

Pre-requisites information:
Hardware Information:
The type of hardware (processor type) may be any of the following:
1)32 bit
2)64 bit Intel
3)64 bit Itanium


Do note that 64 bit Intel and 64 bit Itanium are distinctly different.

Operating System Information:
Oracle provides software on the following three platform of Windows.
1)Windows 32 bit (may be represented as x86)
2)Windows 64 bit Intel (may be represented as x86-64 or x64 or AMD64/EM64T)
3)Windows 64 bit Itanium (may be represented as IA64)

Do note that Windows Intel 64 bit and Windows Itanium 64 bit are distinctly different.

Before proceeding with Oracle RDBMS Certification, let us see what are the possible combinations of Windows OS on the above hardware architecture.
