How to Backup or Copy NetManager Net Service Names Entries in OID (Doc ID 859716.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 13, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Net Services - Version and later
Oracle Internet Directory - Version to 11.1.1 [Release 10gR2 to 11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

The general procedure for copying Oracle Net Service entries in OID is covered in:
Document 232930.1 - How to Copy Oracle Net Service Names from one OracleContext to a New OracleContext

However, the technique in Doc ID 232930.1 does Not take into account the sub-entries, which if not present will cause NetManager to fail if used to manage the entries (reference Document 359545.1 for example).

Therefore, this Note provides an alternative method for generating the LDIF files to backup the Oracle Net Service entries as well as all of their sub-entries. The LDIF file that is generated can be used as a backup of the Oracle Net Service entries in OID, or could be manipulated to copy the entries to a new OracleContext or different OID instance as described in Document 232930.1.

This article applies to OID versions 10g through 11g.
