CDC Apply Latency / High CPU from Apply Servers / High Version Count Re Inserts into CDC tables (Doc ID 862971.1)

Symptoms

Change Data Capture.

Latency in the Apply process associated with CDC server activity.

High version count associated with insert statements into CDC tables .

Higher than usual CPU from Apply servers performing inserts into CDC tables.

select sql_id,hash_value,sql_text,sum(version_count) from v$sqlarea group by
sql_id,hash_value,sql_text having
sql_text like 'INSERT INTO%OPERATION$, CSCN$, COMMIT_TIMESTAMP$%' and
sum(version_count) > 10;


Shows high version counts relating to insert statements into CDC tables.

Note : Check the relevant CDC insert statements from the AWR report to ensure that above sql_text field is
correct for your environment. The above attempts to isolate all inserts into CDC tables.


This issue has also been linked to ora-1722 errors and CDC operation.
