Purpose

The Error 24 is often seen when submitting a Concurrent Request such as a Daily Business Intelligence (DBI) initial or incremental load, however it can occur at any time when performing a variety of operations.  In this note we will assume that the problem is reproducible at will use the submission of the DBI Request Set as an example.

There are only two known causes of this problem.  The purpose of this note is to provide a clear set of instructions to determine what the cause of the problem is in order to take appropriate action.

It is an Operating System (OS) error which Oracle encounters and reports back to the application/user.
