DBCA Fails to Start When Listener.ora Contains (HOST=) 10gR2 (Doc ID 869144.1)

Symptoms

DBCA is failing to launch after editing the listener.ora file.

Changes

It is likely the listener.ora file has been edited and the "HOST" field(s) changed to a null value. 

e.g.:

LISTENER =
     (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
        (DESCRIPTION =
          (ADDRESS_LIST=
           (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = )(PORT = 1556))  
          )
       )
     )
