Goal
The goal of this document is to determine the optimal node size for a sorted index that is unique and/or sorted ranked. If it is not unique and not sorted ranked, the article only partly applies. It gives only the numbers for an optimal use of the space on a page.
Locking problems and the maximum index depth are a different issue.
This document does not apply to hashed indexes.
