Description Search Attribute is not Populated with Custom META Datatag even After Mapping it Correctly (Doc ID 887632.1)

Last updated on MAY 11, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Secure Enterprise Search - Version 10.1.8.3 to 10.1.8.4
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

SES is not correctly handling custom META data tag mappings for Description search attribute.
When a web source is parsing documents with a custom meta tag definition as for example:

<meta name="DESCRIPTION" content="this is my test description"/>

If the META tag is named "DESCRIPTION" , all works correctly. However if the html page uses a
custom name as follows

<meta name="DC.DESCRIPTION" content="this is my test description"/>

And then you map in the source "Metatags mappings" using

Document Attribute: DC.DESCRIPTION
Type: String
Search Attribute: Description (String)

After running the crawler, the search hit list does not show the value in DC.DESCRIPTION handled
as the Description attribute.
