Windows Vista: Network Cable Disconnected Get Ora-3113 Instead Of TAF Session Failover
(Doc ID 943161.1)
Last updated on JUNE 16, 2022
Applies to:
Oracle Net Services - Version 10.1.0.2 to 10.1.0.5 [Release 10.1]Microsoft Windows (32-bit)
Symptoms
-- Problem Statement:
-Using the client on Windows Vista Based Platform
Note: This behavior has also been reported to occur on the Windows 7 platform as well.
TAF failover doesn't work as expected when the client network cable is unplugged. Sqlplus returns
Ora-3113 from a select statement even though the failover succeeded. Failover works correctly if
shutdown abort is done on the primary database. . The expected
behavior is to return ORA-25408: can not safely replay call, as when the XP based client is used.
- Using the client on Windows XP based Platform the failover occurs with no 3113 error reported. The
3113 message is masked and not reported to the user session or application when the network cable
is disconnected. ORA-25408: can not safely replay call is reported for the network interruption.
