Goal

In an instance that has GLOBAL_NAME = TEST we can use the following dblink:

SQL> select * from dual@TEST;
.
D
-
X

Looking into DBA_DB_LINKS view, there is no dblink with such name. Actually, this name is from GLOBAL_NAME view:

SQL> SELECT db_link from dba_db_links;

no rows selected

SQL> select * from global_name;
.
GLOBAL_NAME
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--
TEST
