Messaging Gateway (MGW) Process Extprocmgwextproc Consuming 50% CPU (Doc ID 947976.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 08, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.0.7 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
This problem can occur on any platform.

Symptoms

You might face this problem if you are using 11g MGW and changed the polling interval parameter 'latency' to .5 (half-second) using DBMS_MGWADM.ALTER_PROPAGATION_SCHEDULE Procedure.

Although MGW agent is running fine and messages are being propagated successfully, you notice the O/S 'top' command output showing 'extprocmgwextproc' process consuming 45-55% of server CPU.

Changes

Upgraded RDBMS from a previous version to 11g and/or doing a new 11g installation and used DBMS_MGWADM.ALTER_PROPAGATION_SCHEDULE to set polling interval to .5 second.
