Symptoms

Several different error messages can appear when selecting/inserting/updating DB2 date columns

ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
[Oracle][ODBC DB2 Wire Protocol driver][UDB DB2 for OS/390 and z/OS]STRING
REPRESENTATION OF DATETIME VALUE HAS INVALID SYNTAX. 17062009 {HY000,NativeErr= -180}


or

ORA-01861: literal does not match format string

ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
