Symptoms
You are using the 11g dg4odbc gateway to query a non-Oracle database.
After a working for some time, with no configuration changes, the gateway stops working with the following errors reported in the sqlplus session:
ORA-28511: lost RPC connection to heterogeneous remote agent using

ORA-02063: preceding line from ...
...
ORA-02063: preceding line from ...
The following message is written to the alert log:
HS: Lost RPC connection to remote Agent...
HS: ... Agent SID =

NCR status = -2147385341

NCR status = -2147385341
If tracing is enabled for the gateway, the resulting trace file shows no errors.
