HPUX: Intermittent ORA-12505 Errors Connecting Via Listener to Instance (Doc ID 956199.1)

The problem documented here is limited to HPUX and 9.2.0.8 Oracle Database.

Symptoms

Connections that used to work begin to fail intermittently with ORA-12505 errors.




In this case, the error occurred as infrequently as 5-10 in a 24  hour period.



Changes

It is likely that an HP-UX OS patch was applied recently and the onset of this problem appears to have occurred at about the same time.
