OSB- Create persistent bindings for device attachments on OL (Doc ID 971386.1)

Last updated on JULY 05, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Secure Backup - Version and later
Linux x86

Configuring persistent binding for tape and changer device attachments is advantageous because otherwise the device addresses can change when a media server is rebooted. If a device address changes, Oracle Secure Backup (OSB) will no longer be able to access the device until the device attachments are updated. Persistent Binding enables the host to maintain consistent device addresses across reboots.
Persistent binding is not configured within Oracle Secure Backup but as part of your infrastructure setup. You may configure persistent bindings through the HBA or the operating system. The configuration steps may vary by platform and/or vendor.

This article provides an example of how to configure persistent binding in the Oracle Linux (OL) 5, 6 and 7 operating systems for sg devices.
