Symptoms

NOTE: In the images and/or the document content below, the user information and data used represents fictitious data from the Oracle sample schema(s) or Public Documentation delivered with an Oracle database product. Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental and not intended in any manner.

While starting a collector the following error occurs:

$avctl start_collector -collname DBAUD_Collector -srcname TEST
AVCTL started
Starting collector...
Error executing task start_collector: Internal Collector TEST:DBAUD_Collector

Checking the collector's log file does not show any meaningful error. To see why the collector is not starting we have to start it directly from the Agent environment:

cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin
$ avaudcoll sourcename=<the source name> collectorname=<the name of the collector> avname=<the alias of the AV Server database> hostname=<hostname of the source DB> command=start

This will show that the bottom error is :

CSDK ERROR: On line 554; ORA-01455: converting column overflows integer datatype
