Symptoms

Running addnode.sh to add a new node to an existing cluster hangs and no files are copied to the remote node.

Without an debugging the installation log hangs at

Instantiation of add node scripts complete
Copying to remote nodes (Tuesday, September 29, 2009 7:23:36 PM IST)


In order to diagnose the problem the following steps were used:

$ setenv SRVM_TRACE true (or "export SRVM_TRACE=true")
$ setenv SRVM_TRACE_LEVEL 2 (or "export SRVM_TACE_LEVEL=2")

$./addNode.sh -debug -logLevel finest "CLUSTER_NEW_NODES={node3}" "CLUSTER_NEW_VIRTUAL_HOSTNAMES={node3-v}"


The install logfiles oraInstall<date-and-time>.out shows these errors:

The permission denied errors are repeating.

Changes

Removed previous failed installation from new node and running addnode to add this node to an existing cluster.
