'The Requested Page Contains Stale Data' Error While Updating Applicant Status

Symptoms
In 12.1.1, when attempting to change the application status of an applicant, the following error occurs:
The requested page contains stale data. This error could have been caused through the use of the browser's
navigation buttons (the browser Back button for example).
Cause:
The view object ApplicantsForVacancyAM.region1821_region1_oracle_apps_irc_candidateSearch_server_ApplicantsForVacancyAm.SelectedApplicantListVO
contains no record. The displayed records may have been deleted, or the current record for the view object
may not have been properly initialized.
STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Choose the responsibility 'iRecruitment Recruiter.'
2. Navigate to 'iRecruitment Home-> Vacancies.'
3. Search for a vacancy .
4. Click on the 'View Applicants' button.
5. Choose an applicant.
6. Click on the 'Update Status' button.
7. Change the status to 'Accepted' and click the 'Submit' button.
