In release 11i the Install Base Interface function has to be manually added to the line workflow to interface non-shippable fulfillment order lines into Install Base. In R12, Order Management Fulfillment automatically calls the Installed Base Interface and sends all non-shippable order lines into Install Base. However, this new enhancement in R12 creates the following problems.
a) Bill_only transactions are always interfaced to Installed Base regardless if user wants it to or not
b) Order lines created from Oracle Field Service debrief are sent to Install Base and create duplicate updates for OM shipments and errors with 'Transaction Details are Mandatory for Cancellation / RMA Fulfillment.' for RMA lines.
Because of the above problems, OM has created Patch 9215901 which introduces a new profile option:
OM: Automatically Interface Lines to IB on Fulfillment
- If this profile option is set to 'Y', then all non-shippable lines will interface to Install Base.
- If this profile option is set to 'N', then Installed Base11i behavior is retained and the user needs to modify the line workflow to interface non-shippable lines to Installed Base.
For companies using Oracle Field Service to debrief this profile option needs to be set to 'N' to avoid duplicated updates.
