Reports Builder 10.1.2.3 in APPS R12.1 Hangs When Opening Data Model (Doc ID 1081935.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 06, 2015

Applies to:

Oracle Reports Developer - Version 10.1.2.3 to 10.1.2.3 [Release 10gr2]
Oracle Application Object Library - Version 12 to 12.0.7 [Release 12]
Oracle Applications Technology Stack - Version 12.2.3 to 12.2.3 [Release 12.2]
Linux x86

Symptoms

Opening any report using Reports Builder tool (rwbuilder.sh) on a Linux platform and clicking on the 'Data Model' link will cause the Reports Builder session to hang.

So far, this issue has been seen when Linux server is using an Intel XEON CPU. (cat /proc/cpuinfo)
To confirm if you are encountering this particular problem, the best approach is to generate a Java Thread dump when the Reports Builder session is hanging.

For Example:

1- Start Reports Builder using rwbuilder.sh and reproduce the hanging issue by clicking on the Data Model.
2- From another unix shell session, execute command "ps -ef | grep rwbuilder".
3- Please execute the following kill command against the first rwbuilder process you see, for example:
kill -3 <pid>
4-  On the session that started Reports Builder, you will get a Java Thread stack trace. Check if the "main" thread looks like the following one:
"main" prio=1 tid=0x0816dff0 nid=0x7f8c runnable [0xfeff3000..0xfeff5af8]
