Send Interface Transmission to a WebService Fails With 504 Gateway Timeout (Doc ID 1082239.1)

Symptoms

On OTM Version 5.5.06, When attempting to send an Interface transmission for a Shipment to a custom web service, the following error occurs.

CAUGHT THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTION WHILE PROCESSING TRANSMISSION OUTBOUND: OTM failed to send SERVICE transmission <transmission number>, <Webservice>, operation process, url null with the following Exception: HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Bad response: 504 Gateway Timeout HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Bad response: 504 Gateway Timeout at oracle.j2ee.ws.client.http.HttpClientTransport.invokeImpl(HttpClientTransport.java:172) at

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Select a Shipment and click Actions - Utilities - Send Interface Transmission - Select an External System set to use a Web Service and select SERVICE as communication method
2. Search for the transmission and see that the transmission errors with the error above
