Goal

On some occasions when using Note 1050920.6 - How To Correct Misclassified Accounts in General Ledger in 11i the stage of zeroing the balances in the last period of the previous year has been omitted by mistake. This results in Accounts classified as P&L not being rolled in to the Retained Earnings Account and having opening balances in the New Financial Year and Accounts classified as Balance Sheet with non-zero closing balances and zero opening balances having been rolled in to the Retained Earnings Account.

The two scripts detect where this has happened and all Sets of Books affected.

To correct the error.
- Change the Account Type from the current correct type
- Create a journal to make the balances zero in the closing period of the financial year prior to the current year and post.
- Change the Account Type back to the correct type
- Reverse the journal and post.

Note: These differences should be displayed in the GL Period Closing Diagnostic Script for the Opening Period of the Current Financial Year but this will only show the error for the Set of Books for which the Diagnostic has been run.  These scripts show the differences for all Sets of Books linked to the Chart of Accounts.
