WIP Error: You cannot Update an Expired Instance. Instance needs to be un-expired before any updates (Doc ID 1094525.1)

Last updated on JULY 14, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Installed Base - Version 11.5.9 to 11.5.10.2 [Release 11.5]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When a lot-controlled item is used in a BOM (with supply type = Assembly pull) and a WIP job assembly for that BOM (serialized predefined) is completed, WIP and inventory pull the item to the wip job (issue), using one of the available lot_numbers. Install Base creates an instance for the component with usage 'IN_RELATIONSHIP'. Then a WIP Assembly Return is done for the same job, de-assembling one of the completed serial numbers. This triggers a WIP receipt for the component instance that was created, expiring it. Any future completion for this job failed with this message:

Error Code: CSI_API_CANT_UPD_EXP_ITEM
Error Message: You cannot Update an Expired Instance. Instance needs to be un-expired before any updates.
