Last updated on JULY 20, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Transportation Operational Planning - Version 6.1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On OTM version 6.1 when using Order Movements created using a Multi-Leg Itinerary the times on the Order Movements and resulting Shipment are not physically possible.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
Expect the times to be possible, for example the second Order Movement cannot have a start time before the the end of the first Order Movement.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1 - Log onto an OTM 6.1 system.

2 - Navigate to: Shipment Management Itinerary Management > Itinerary Manager and created the following:
ID: Order
3 legs, TL, vessel, TL.
Set the third leg to Primary.

3 - Navigate to: Order Management > Order Release > Order Release > clicked NEW and created the following:
ID: Order
This Order is from the UK to the USA.

4 - From the Order Release click on Actions > Manage Buy Order Movement > Show Itineraries > Selected Itinerary Order

5 - Click on the Create button.

6 - 3 Order Movements were created with the following operational dates:

Operational Early Pickup Operational Late Del
Order-004 26/05/2010 12:09 Europe/London
Order-005 26/04/2010 12:09 Europe/London 26/05/2010 07:09 America/New_York
Order-006 26/04/2010 07:09 America/New_York --

7 -
The Operational Late Delivery Date of the first Order Movement is 26/05/2010 12:09 Europe/London however the Operational early Pickup of the second Order Movement is 26/04/2010 12:09 Europe/London which is one month before the end of the first Order Movement.

The Operational Late Delivery date of the second Order Movement is 26/05/2010 07:09 America/New_York, while the Operational Early Pickup of the third Order Movement is 26/04/2010 07:09 America/New_York. This indicates that the third Order Movement can start one month before the end of the second Order Movement.

8 - Navigat to: Order Management > Order Release > Order Release > Searched for and copied Order Order, creating the following:
ID: Order_2 ( a copy of the Order used above).

9 - From the Order Release click on Actions > Manage Buy Order Movement > Show Itineraries >
Selected Itinerary LJS_SIMPLE_3_LEGGER and click the 'Create' button.

NOTE: LJS_SIMPLE_3_LEGGER has the vessel leg set as Primary.

10 - The following 3 Order Movements were created with the following operational dates:

Operational Early Pickup Operational Late Del
Order_2-001 -- 26/05/2010 12:24 Europe/London
Order_2-002 26/04/2010 12:24 Europe/London 26/05/2010 07:24 America/New_York
Order_2-003 26/04/2010 07:24 America/New_York --

11 - Observe the first Order movement ends on the 26th May but the second order movement can start one month earlier on 26th April. The second Order Movement ends on the 26th May while the last Order Movement can be picked up one month earlier from the 26th April.

12 - Bulk Plan the Order Movements and the Shipments created use the above dates, meaning htat the Order is expected to be in two places at once.

Conclusion: The dates in both cases are not possible,it looks like the earliest each Order Movement can be picked up up is the time the planning is carried out.
