"Equipment Type Assignment" Error on Force Assign Driver to Subsequent Leg of Multileg Shipment (Doc ID 1110493.1)

Symptoms

When setting the value CONSOL INTO ONE EQUIPMENT or MULTISTOP INTO ONE EQUIPMENT AND RE-USE EQUIPMENT as the Equipment Assignment Type for all legs but the 1st on an Itinerary with multiple legs, the following error occurs when trying to Force Assign a Driver on the Middle Leg.

ERROR

Shipment DOMAIN.SHIPMENT_ID is the middle leg in multi-leg or relay shipments, and is not eligible for Equipment Type Assignment.


STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Create an Itinerary with Multiple legs (such as DRAY RAIL DRAY RAIL DRAY) where the Equipment Assignment type is CONSOL INTO ONE EQUIPMENT or MULTISTOP INTO ONE EQUIPMENT AND RE-USE EQUIPMENT on all legs except the first.
2.  Create a shipment using the Itinerary created above.
3.  Tender all shipments created.
4.  Assign a Driver to the first TL/DRAY shipment by selecting the shipment and clicking Actions --> Fleet Management --> Assign --> Driver.
5.  Assign a new Driver to the 2nd TL/DRAY Shipment by selecting the shipment and clicking Actions --> Fleet Management --> Force Assign --> Driver.
6.  Note the error received:

Shipment DOMAIN.SHIPMENT_ID is the middle leg in multi-leg or relay shipments, and is not eligible for Equipment Type Assignment.
