How credit check failure hold is applied at order level and line level ?

Need to understand the application of Holds
1) We have credit check enabled and when the Credit Limit exceeds the Holds are being automatically applied at the Order Header Level.
2) When the Credit check Hold is applied at the Order Level , by increasing the Credit Limit ,will it release the Hold Automatically.
