NullPointerException Error After Running Contract Expert Or Expert Cannot Be Run Again (Doc ID 1179284.1)

When using Contract Expert, the first time that the Finish button is pressed on the Contract Expert Summary page the following error occurs.  The user can use the browser back arrow to return to the Contract Expert page and click Finish again and this time the changes are saved OK.

Another symptom is that Contract Expert runs OK the first time it is run, but when attempting to run it again it does not run although there is no error.

oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: java.lang.NullPointerException
at oracle.apps.okc.contractexpert.server.ContractExpertSummaryAMImpl.updateCEConfig(

Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to Purchasing responsibility, Buyer Work Center
2. Go to Agreements tab
3. Create new agreement
4. Add Contract Terms
5. Select Contract Template with contract expert rules
6. Run Contract Expert
7. Answer questions
8. Click Finish button
9. Get error page
- error details show java.lang.NullPointerException
10. Use back browser to return to the Contract Expert page
11. Click Finish button. Contract Expert changes are applied.
