PLM Item Template Cannot Be Applied Due To oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: java.lang.NullPointerException Error

Receive the following error attempting to update an item in Product Information Management (PIM/PLM) and Advanced Product Catalog (APC).

Error #2
Another symptom identified via <Bug 12548404> was the following error when trying to apply a template:

Attribute InventoryItemId in EgoEditItemAM.EgoExtFwkAM.EGO_MASTER_ITEMS431MainITEM_ORG is required

What is working
If the template does not have attribute 'Unit of Issue' selected then there is no issue.

Apply the template using the Inventory Module.


  1. Navigate to Development Manager > Items > Item Simple Search
  2. Select update action in Actions Combo Box and Click on Go Button.
  3. Enter an item template in Template Input Box. The template includes the following setup:
    • Inventory Item = Yes
    • Stockable = Yes
    • Transactable = Yes
    • Unit of Issue = Box
  4. System errors out with an "Error Page":
