Last updated on APRIL 12, 2019

Applies to:

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On : 12.1.1 version -Enterprise Asset Managment

When attempting to process WIP receipt for non-serialized, Lot Controlled items that have an Asset Type = Rebuildable where Work Orders exist for the Item Instance, but the user wishes to return the instance to Inventory the following error occurs.

ERROR:
You cannot deactivate an asset for which there are open work requests or service requests or work orders.

The above process is taking place in the Install Base. After reviewing the log files it can be seen that during the course of the WIP Receipt transaction, the item instance quantity is being set to 0, which causes the instance to be expired. This is what one would expect for a non-serialized item. The Install Base code performs the same checks regarding assets for both serialized and non-serialized items but the EAM code which is called to validate if the condition is valid or not does not appear to differentiate between these 2 cases - the EAM should be able to differentiate these cases.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Perform WIP Receipt
2. See IB transaction error log.
