This is intended to be an alert for all clients who are upgrading to Oracle Applications release 12, especially for those who intend to use the new dual unit of measure functionality. This alert is designed to make clients aware of the existing functional limitations that exist during an upgrade to release 12, as many clients might otherwise mistakenly have a working-assumption that their existing 11i items could be converted to dual unit of measure through a migration path. By making clients aware of these functional limitations, then clients can build into their R12 upgrade efforts their functional requirements for their established set of items. If clients are upgrading to R12 to utilize dual unit of measure, then this alert will provide the information for the business to set aside more lead time necessary to discern which existing items need to be migrated for dual UOM, and also work to consider possible solutions to fulfill this objective. In some cases, it may make the most sense for a client to delete the item and recreate the item once migrated to R12.
