Symptoms

Supervisor is not able to submit the timesheet for subordinates in different business group. For example, supervisor is in US BG and employee is in India BG. When you click on submit button, it throws the following error:

You cannot edit this timecard because of invalid security context. Please logout and try again or contact your system administrator.

OR

Navigate to Manager Self Service that is linked to Security Profile A, then open Application Favorites menu and choose "Create Timecard" that is linked to Security Profile B, the following error occurs.

You cannot edit this timecard because of invalid security context. Please  logout and try again or contact your system administrator.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Manager Self-Service (Linked to Sec. Profile X) > View/Update  Benefits.
  2. Click Actions for one employee.
  3. Now click on Favorites > View/Enter Time (Linked to Sec. Profile Y).
  4. Click on Create Timecard > Got the error.

OR

A Managers in Business Group A tries to edit or approve a timecard for his employee in Business Group B, gets the following error

You cannot edit this timecard because of invalid security context. Please logout and try again or contact your system administrator.


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Navigate to Manager Self-Service.
2. Choose timecard to approve.
3. Get error message.
