Unable To Process Payments - Document sequence does not exist for the current document even though profile option Sequential Numbering is set to Partially Used (Doc ID 1306236.1)

Symptoms


On : 12.1.1 version,

When attempting to Process Payments or Book an Order with Cash Type of Pre payments,
the following error occurs.

ERROR
-----------------------
OE_PPCC_AUTH_FAIL (PAYMENT_NUMBER=1) (ERROR=Document sequence does not exist for the current document even though profile option Sequential Numbering is set to Partially Used.)

The Order does get booked but the payments are not processed.


STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Enter prepayment details against SO at header level
2. Save record
3. Click on Process Payments button and see the error
4. Same error pops up when trying to Book the Order
