R12 PIM Simple Item Search Not Returning Results When Description Contains Special Characters
Last updated on JULY 18, 2017
Applies to:Oracle Product Hub - Version 12.1.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
When using PIM Simple Search when searching for Items with Descriptions containing System Item Key Flex fields and Item Catalog Descriptive Flex Fields, leaving out the separator would result in no rows found. No results may be returned when words separated by delimiters such as: -_*~^+.$#@:|&=
Searching will not find Item Descriptions which have words separated by a pipe "|" (or other special characters). For example BROWN|LEATHER or BROWN | LEATHER. When a simple search with the criteria "Brown Leather" or "Brown, Leather" it will return no results.
Issue not limited to pipe but for any delimiters of system item KFF and Item Catalog DFF such as: -_*~^+.$#@:|&=
Expect to find Items with special characters without using wildcards.
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Log into PIM
2. Item Simple Search
3. Have an Item with a description with a special character separator such as BROWN|LEATHER or BROWN:LEATHER.
4. Perform Search with criteria such as "Brown Leather" or "Brown, Leather", expect results but none are retrieved.
