Purpose

This document contains a selection of information on Oracle VM and its usage, including creating an EBS environment from a VM template.

Scope

The procedures shown were tested in sandbox environments; for the official documentation please check the documentation resources below. Please make sure to backup and test any procedure before using it in a production environment. The most current version of this document is published as My Oracle Support Knowledge Document <Note 1355641.1> - Introduction to Oracle VM, Oracle VM Manager and EBS template deployment.
Please note this is not an official development document - the procedures were performed in test sandbox environments, and for some procedures alternatives exist that are not discussed here.
Oracle VM 2.2 was used for the testing. Parts of it apply to release 3.0 as well, but not everything, also because in this release all manipulating of the repository and files in it is supposed to go via the Oracle VM Manager.
Always make sure to run a certified version.
