Can not open favorites link in a new window from preferences page in Oracle Applications R12.1 (Doc ID 1363337.1)

Symptoms

On Oracle Applications R12.1.x, when attempting to open a favorites link from favorites menu in the Preferences page in a new window, the page is not opening and it fails giving error message.

As an example if trying to open GOOGLE website, the error message will be:

javascript:_submitNav('DefaultFormName','http://www.google.com')

However when trying to open the same favorites link directly from homepage it is working fine with no problems.


WORKAROUND
Don't check the check box for "Open in a New Window" while creating the favorites link

The following are sample of the steps used to reproduce the issue

1- Login to Oracle Applications
2- Click on "Favorites" link
3- Then Select "Manage Favorites"
4- Add new URL: www.google.com with the option "Open in a New Window" CHECKED
5- Go back to Homepage and try to open the favorites link for GOOGLE and it is working fine.
6- Click on "Preferences" link on the top right of the page
7- Try to open the favorites link for GOOGLE and it is not working and it will show the above error message in the address bar.
