Expired Warranty Start Date Changed After Install Base Instance Repaired and Shipped (Doc ID 1367606.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 27, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Service Contracts - Version 11.5.10.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When a specific instance which has an expired warranty is received for repair, then shipped back out to the customer again, the old warranty is updated with new start/end dates corresponding to when the instance was shipped out again and the warranty therefore becomes Active once again.

Expected Behavior:
Expect that there should be no change to the original warranty.  The dates should remain the original ship date and end date.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a sales order for an item which has a warranty attached in the BOM and ship the order so that the IB instance and warranty are created.
2. After the warranty has expired, receive the item back in for repair using a repair order.
3. Ship the item back out to the customer
- check the original warranty and will see that it has been updated with new dates based on the new ship date.
