Purpose

This document details which database patches are required in addition to the database Release Update (RU) for Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.2, 12.1, and 11i on Oracle engineered systems, on either on-premises Oracle Exadata Database Machines or Oracle SuperClusters.

It is updated quarterly. The most current version can be obtained in My Oracle Support Knowledge <Document 1392527.1>.  Modifications are listed in the change log.  You should check for updates regularly, and in particular before performing any E-Business Suite maintenance operations.

Note: Oracle Database 12c Release 12.1.0.2 and Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.4 are in Upgrade Support, the successor to Market Driven Support (MDS).  We strongly recommend that you upgrade to Oracle Database 19c as soon as possible.  For more information on Upgrade Support and how to upgrade, see <Document 2997711.1>, Alert: Oracle E-Business Suite On-Premises Customers and Upgrade Support for Oracle Database Releases 12.1.0.2 and 11.2.0.4.  In this document, the releases listed for these older database versions will remain at October, 2023 for the most recent release and July 2023 for the one prior, with small adjustments to these two entries as needed.

If you are upgrading your database, use the information in this document in conjunction with the appropriate Oracle E-Business Suite Interoperability note:

E-Business Suite R12.2:
<Document 2552181.1> - Interoperability Notes: Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (12.2) with Oracle Database 19c

E-Business Suite 12.1:
<Document 2580629.1> - Interoperability Notes: Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1 with Oracle Database 19c

E-Business Suite R11i:
Please see Oracle E-Business Suite Release Notes, Release 12.2 <Document 1320300.1> -> Section 3: Instructions for Upgrade Customers, to upgrade your environment to E-Business Suite 12.2 and Oracle Database 19c.

If you are patching your database, refer to the database patch information and post-patch steps in this document instead of those in <Document 1594274.1> - Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2: Consolidated List of Oracle Database Patches and Bug Fixes or <Document 1147107.1> - Database Patch Set Update Overlay Patches Required for Use with PSUs and Oracle E-Business Suite.

Please also check <Document 888828.1> for Exadata Database Machines or <Document 2056975.1> for SuperClusters for important patch and upgrade information for Oracle Engineered Systems.

Note: You should review this document on a regular basis and install the latest recommended patches as soon as possible — ideally within the quarter they are released.  Applying these critical fixes to your Oracle E-Business Suite will help avoid security, functional, and performance issues for which fixes are already available.

For Oracle Database 19.0.0.0.0, additional bugfixes are listed in <Document 555.1>, Oracle Database 19c Important Recommended One-off Patches.  You should review these in the context of the quarterly Release Updates (RUs) recommended in this <Document 1392527.1>.  Do not apply an RU from <Document 555.1> unless it is recommended in this document, and do not apply either Release Update Revisions (RURs) or Monthly Recommended Patches (MRPs).  For any bugfixes listed in <Document 555.1> that you decide to apply but that are reported as conflicting with the requirements in this document, contact Oracle Support.

Scope

Database patch release updates (RUs) are published quarterly.  They contain the latest critical security, functional, and performance database fixes.  Customers are encouraged to move to the latest database RU as soon as possible - ideally within the quarter they are released.

The E-Business Suite (EBS) development team tests the supported versions of EBS against the latest database RU and one prior, for each database version certified by EBS, identifying the additional database patches required by each version of EBS.  This document provides the list of database patches required and tested by EBS development for each supported version of EBS running on the latest database RU and one prior, for each supported database version, when that testing is complete.

The supported versions and lists of patches change at least quarterly, so it is important to review the current version of this document immediately prior to any maintenance of an E-Business Suite database on an engineered system.

All database bundle patches are cumulative.  See <Document 888828.1> (Exadata) or <Document 2056975.1> (SuperCluster) for further details.
