Purpose
Oracle Receivables (AR): Customer Workbench Information Center > Note 1447402.1
This document provides troubleshooting tips, how to instructions and a consolidation of known issues and patches regarding creating and maintaining the Business Purpose.
The Business Purpose is also referred to as the Site Use. In Release 11.5, the Business Purpose is associated to the Customer Address. In Release 12, the Business Purpose is associated to the Account Site Address.
The following shows the structure of the Customer Form in Release 12, highlighted in Yellow is the area this note focuses on.

The following images show where Business Purpose is on the Customer Form for Release 12 and Release 11.5
In Release 12, the Business Purposes section is displayed as follows:
Option 1 : Creating a New Customer
Responsibility: Receivables Manager
Navigation: Customers > Customers
- Click on the Create Button to create a new record.
- The section of the form highlighted in yellow is the area this note discusses.
Option 2: Maintaining a Customer
Responsibility: Receivables Manager
Navigation: Customers > Customers
- Query an existing customer
- In the results page, click on the Hyperlink text under Account Description, OR Click on the Details icon
- In the Sites tab, click on the Details Icon of the site you want to maintain
- Highlighted in yellow below are the focus areas of this note: the Business Purposes tab
and Details, which are displayed by Clicking on the Details icon: Please note that the fields change depending on the business purpose, the following shows Bill To Details:

In Release 11.5, the Customer Address section is displayed as follows:
Option 1: Creating a New Customer
Responsibility: Receivables Manager
Navigation: Customers > Standard
- In Search form enter the name of a non-existent customer
- In the form that opens up, Click on New
- The section highlighted in yellow is the area this note discusses.
Click on Open to maintain details of the Business Purposes in 3 tabs: Details, Accounts and Order Management
Option 2: Maintaining a Customer
Responsibility: Receivables Manager
Navigation: Customers > Standard
- Query an Existing Customer, in the Search Results screen move focus (blue bar) to the Child record, and click Ok
- In the Addresses tab, move focus to the address row you wish to edit, and click Open
- The screens will then be the same as those shown in step 3 above.
