Install Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in
Goal
Install Enterprise Manager Grid Control 12c and Deploy the Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in (Former AMP/ACP) Release 12.1.0.1.0
Provide instructions on how to accomplish the goal
1. Install a certified Oracle Database to house the Management Repository
The Oracle Database installation process is not covered in this document.
If the RDBMS version of the OMS database is 11.2.0.2.0 or greater, then apply
RDBMS Server patch 12965899 on the OMS database before installing the Oracle
E-Business Suite plug-in.
2. Install the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c:
From the installation screens, ensure the pre-requisites are all succeeded:
Select the option to install it: 'Simple' or 'Advanced'. The 'Simple' option works fine.
Enter the Administrator passwords to manage the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c:
In case the database has a sysman schema already, an extra step is required to be executed in order to remove that, so a new sysman schema is created during the installation:
Execute the command in the command line window as the example:
The installation will resume and start installing the files and configuring the instance:
Once that is finished, the following screen gives you the information to access the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c console:
In the above example, the url is:
https://<DOMAIN>.us.oracle.com:7801/em
Once you go to that url, the following screen is displayed:
And the initial page is showed after login:
3. Setup Software library configuration
3.1 On the Enterprise Manager home page, from the Setup menu, select Provisioning and Patching, and then select Software Library.
3.2 Click the Provisioning subtab.
3.3 On the Provisioning page, click the Administration subtab.
3.4 In the Software Library Configuration section, click Add to set the Software Library Directory Location to a shared storage that can be accessed by any host running the Management Service.
4. Deploy Agent to EBS Host
To be able to deploy the Agent, the credentials must be set. To set it follow the steps 'Host Named Credentials' from Note 1490884.1.
From the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c console, select Setup > Add Target > Add Targets Manually:
Select the 'Add Host Targets' and enter the hostname to be added:
Enter the credential information to connect to that host, so the deployment can work fine:
Once that is done, the deployment procedure starts:
After it is finished, the step to run root.sh must be done manually in the host, as it shows as pending:
After that is executed, the host is displayed in the 'Targets'> 'Host' list:
5. Deploy Fusion Middleware Plug-in
The next step is to deploy the Fusion Plug-in to the Agent node in order to prepare it to receive the AMP. To deploy that, go to ‘Setup’ > ‘Extensibility’ > ‘Plug-ins’. Select ‘Oracle Fusion Middleware’ and Deploy on Management Agent.
Then, select the host to deploy it, as displayed below:
After select the host, the screen should show like below:
The deployment procedure would install the Fusion Middleware plugin to the host target:
6. Apply pre-requisite patches to the OMS server:
The following patches are listed as pre-requisite for AMP as per document Getting Started with Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in, Release 12.1.0.1.0 (<Document 1434392.1>)
<Patch 13510835>
<Patch 14068462>
<Patch 13865299>
7. Deploy Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in Release 12.1.0.1.0:
The Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in Release 12.1.0.1.0 is delivered via Enterprise Manager Store. In order to have the updates working, please set the MOS credentials (Grid Control > Setup > Security > Preferred Credentials > MOS Credentials). This will allow the Enterprise Manager Grid Control to download the plugin to the Software Library directory previously configured.
The first step to be done, according with the Note 1434392.1, is to install the plug-in from the patch to the OMS Repository. To do the install, the following steps must be completed:
7.1 Download the Plug-in from the Enterprise Manager Store
- From the Setup menu, choose Extensibility, then choose Self Update.
- Click 'Plug-in' to get the complete list of available updates.
- Select 'Plug-in Name' Oracle E-Business Suite and select 'Download'. The Schedule Download dialog appears.
- Select when to download the plug-in.
- Click Select. An Enterprise Manager job is created to download the plug-in to the Software Library.
7.2 Deploy the plug-in to Oracle Management Service (OMS)
- From the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Setup menu, select Extensibility, then Plug-ins.
- Select Oracle E-Business Suite in the Plug-ins table under Applications. Select Deploy On and then select Management Servers.
The following screen lists the Oracle E-Business Suite plugin under the Applications folder:
Enter the SYS password:
It’s recommended to backup the repository before proceed. Also, the process shows an alert about that and inform the OMS repository will be bounced during the installation:
The installation can be monitored via the console or emcli command line, as displayed:
During the installation, the oms repository will be bounced. If the command “emctl status oms” is issued, it will show the service is down due of the plugin deployment procedure.
7.3 Deploy the plug-in to the Agent
The same procedure must be executed in the host where the agent was installed. This is the host where the EBS environment is installed. You need to execute the same action for all hosts part of the EBS system.
The process is similar to the deployment procedure to the Management Server, but in this case the EBS host targets must be selected:
After it is done, the following screen shows it was successfully deployed:
After the procedure is executed, the system is ready to be discovered and menu ‘Targets’ > ‘Oracle E-Business Suite’ should be available under the Enterprise Manager Console.
The next step after the E-Business Suite is discovered is to ensure all credentials as per How to Set Credentials in Grid Control 12c for E-Business Suite Plug-in[Document 1490884.1] are set in the environment.
