Depot Repair: Attempting To Update Repair Order In Depot Repair results in IB Owner error (Doc ID 1499351.1)

When attempting to make a change to any updateable field in the Repair Order (Details tab) after saving an SR / RO without instance information on it, or the instance on the RO has changed ownership after receiving it for the Repair Order, the following error occurs when trying to save changes.

The Service Request customer [ Name ] does not have any Installed Base associations with this item instance [ Instance # ].
Please change the ownership with the Tools menu or choose another instance.

When the IB instance is owned by the SR customer, there is no message popup (as expected)

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Create SR without instance, but with an item
2. Create Repair Order - e.g. of type Loaner
3. After saving, try to update the problem description to get the error
