GLXOCPER Open/Close Period Form - 'Open Next Period' Button No Longer Available in R12 (Doc ID 1510397.1)

Form Name : GLXOCPER
In 11i the Open/Close periods form included 'Open Next Period' button.    
In R12 the design is changed, so that the form no longer presents this button, but instead it provides 'Open Period' button - using this will open a list of values allowing the user to select a Target Period which can be any period in the future.

The standard functionality as presented in GL Userguide: 'Choose Open Period, specify a Target Period, and choose the Open button. The target period and any prior periods that are between the target period and the latest opened period for that ledger are opened.'

This might facilitate user mistakes. Is this intended design for R12?
