Customer Workbench: The Tax Registration Number Contains An Alphabetic Character where A Numeric Character Is Expected (Doc ID 1515776.1)

Symptoms

On : 12.1.3 version, Customers Module

Attempting to update the Tax Registration Number in the customer form and receive the following error:

The Tax Registration Number contains an alphabetic character where a numeric character is expected.


Steps to Reproduce:
Responsibility:  Receivables
Navigation: Customers > Customers
Search for customer
Click on customer NAME (not account)
Open Profile tab (for customer not for customer account).
Tax and Financial Information region
Enter Tax Registration Number (TRN) and click on Save

This is a valid TRN number.  Even then, the system is not allowing to update the same and giving the above error message
