Last updated on FEBRUARY 19, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Order Management - Version to 12.1.3 [Release 11.5.10 to 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

On :  12.1.3 version, Transaction Entry

You can change the order type on a sales order if:

1. The Order Number generated is not set to "Gapless."
2. The order is not Booked.
3. The order doesn't have any lines.

You can check these constraints from Setup -> Rules -> Processing Constraints.

However, when changing the order type, you receive a new order number and
first order number is not available, and may be deleted.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Create order 123, order type = Standard, status = Entered, save.
2. Query order 123, change order type = Standard 1, save.
3. See new order number.

How can you change the order type and keep the original order number?
