Depot Repair Error: "One of the record (Identified by record index 1 and Item ID: ****) in the Transaction Line Detail table is sourced but does not have an owner" when submitting RMA (Doc ID 1546302.1)

On :  12.1.3 version, Repair Order Management

When attempting to book an RMA for a return line in depot, the following error occurs.

One of the record (Identified by record index NNN and Item ID: NNNN) in the Transaction Line Detail table is sourced but does not have an owner.
Instance cannot be created without a Owner.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Create Service Request
  2. Approve Service Request
  3. Create Repair Order for non serialized item - have instance created when saving
  4. Logistics Charges line will populate automatically.
  5. Change item on the return line --> this is important to reproduce this scenario. It blanks out the instance on the line as well. The reason for changing the item here is out of scope of this document. It could for distinguishing defective and repaired items (i.e. physically the same item but using different item numbers)
  6. Try to process Ship Line
  7. Succeeds
  8. Try to process return Line
  9. System throws error
