The User DESCRIPTION in FND_USER is Modified When We Process an IDENTITY_MODIFY From OID. (Doc ID 1547043.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 04, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Applications Technology Stack - Version to 12.1.3 [Release 11.5.10 to 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Actual Behaviour

After successfully integrating the E-Business suite with OID and Microsoft Active Directory, user provisioning is working as expected. When updating the DISPLAY_NAME in Active Directory it correctly updates "DESCRIPTION" in OID and the E-Business suite.

However when the EMAIL address is updated in OID, the E-Business suite FND_USER record is having the user "DESCRIPTION" field updated with the samaccountname from AD.

Expected Behaviour

Email modification in OID should not affect the E-Business suite FND_USER "DESCRIPTION" field.

Steps to Reproduce

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1:- Perform update in OID to set user "DESCRIPTION" to "Test"
2:- These updates are processed by OID and WF_ATTRIBUTE_CACHE shows DESCRIPTION=Test
3:- Update the users email address in OID
4:- FND Debug shows WF_ENTITY_MGR. put_attribute_value altering the description.

Business Impact

Due to this issue, user records are being updated with invalid information.

Implemented integration between Oracle E-Business suite and Oracle Internet Directory.
