Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On :  12.1.3 version, Enterprise Asset Management > Work Orders

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
--------------------------

Get the error below when trying to create a work order from a work request using an asset number which had a suffix added during the upgrade process to eliminate duplicates :

ERROR
--------
Asset Number is mandatory for Assets and Serialized Rebuilds

Asset Number - Select a valid value.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------------
Expect that the work order should be created successfully because the asset number is valid.

WHAT IS WORKING
---------------------------
The issue is not seen when the work order is created manually for the asset. There are also no issues when doing a simple search for work orders using the asset number.

STEPS
--------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. The customer has upgraded from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.3.
2. In 11i, customer used same Asset Number for Different Asset Groups. In R12 upgrade those Asset Numbers are suffixed by Instance_id.

3. Create a work request for the suffixed asset.
4. Now try to create a work order using the WR details. (Maintenance Super User > Work Orders > Create Work Orders)
5. The above error is shown for the asset number and the work order cannot be created.
