On Oracle Applications release 12.0.1, Discoverer for Applications Technology

When attempting to connect to Oracle Applications database from BI Discoverer 11g Desktop from application tier user, the following error occurs:

unable to connect to: user@sid Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database: invalid username/password

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Connect to Oracle Applications database from BI Discoverer 11g Desktop.
2. The error occurs.
