GTIN Can Only be Assigned to One Item (Doc ID 1585879.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 27, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Warehouse Management - Version 12.1.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On : 12.1.3 version, Materials Management

Customer needs to assign the same GTIN to multiple items:

These items are the same product, but in the different countries within the site instance, these items have different SKU #'s.

Attempted to assign cross references of the item to different organizations (ORGs) but having the same GTIN and it did not work.

ERROR
---------
They get the error message "GTIN # already exists"

STEPS
-------
To be a little more specific ... it is the same GTIN and unit of measure (EA
or BX) assigned to different item numbers.
 .
 For example:
CL item A (EA or unit) = GTIN 0123456789
ARG item B (EA or unit) = GTIN 0123456789
BR item C (EA or unit) = GTIN 0123456789
 .
The explanation for this is that each country has a unique selling item
number that points back to the same unit level GTIN value.
